In addition to our excellent resident elk herds, hunting pressure on nearby public lands causes more elk to migrate onto land that is leased by Ivory Tip Outfitters. Because our elk hunting areas are in 4-point or better management units, the chance of you taking a mature bull elk is much higher! Typically our hunters successfully harvest 4-point or better bulls, with most bulls running in the 5 to 6 point range. The terrain you will hunt at our ranches varies from dark timber, aspens, rolling sage hills, dense oak brush, pinon-juniper trees and cedar trees. While searching for elk, we hunt out of trucks and side by side Polaris Rangers. These hunts are spot and stalk.
COW ELK HUNTS
For the hunter who prefers to put tasty elk steaks in the freezer rather than antlers on the wall, we also offer cow elk hunts at a reduced rate. Our cow elk hunts take place in the middle of November. We also offer a youth hunt for cow elk that runs in December. These hunts are used to help to control our over-abundant elk herds.
All of our elk tags are easy to get - with two of the seasons being sold over the counter and the other two seasons being a draw only tag with zero preference points required (even at a second choice).
